In the morning we will be hunting, up early, 4:00 a.m., drive to the logging landing, gather gear then hump down a muddly, slippery logging skid road to a secluded stand of trees. My Cuddeback trail cameras have indicated some pretty dang good activity at our money trail juncture – which appreantly is a hub for local rut activity. I love those camers. I went in this morning and set the stands – needed to make some adjustments as last minute as I convinced my buddy Chad what an amazing opportunity it would be for him to film for me.
This meant I needed to get another tree stand set before I had to be at work this morning at 7. Got up at 4 to make this happen. Chad then went back in at 9:30 tonight to see if anything came in after I had been in early this a.m. There had been. We capture three good photos – a great color shot of a good forked-horn at 10:31 a.m. (my clock needs to be set back an hour – haven’t fell back yet for Fall). The second image has a big buck pushing a couple of does full right at 5:00 p.m. getting real close to being too dark. Especially to film. The last image is of the giant forked horn we have captured on film a number of times. He is going to be a smoker in a year or two. Awesome buck and he came in at 4:26 p.m. – that is shooting time. So, not a bad day all in all. I am jacked up to get in the stand an hour before daylight tomorrow. Plenty of time to let the area settle down and get into the right frame of mind as a hunter. I can smell the sweet woods now, it is almost game time. Shot my bow out to 40 yards tonight, it is dialed, got my gear washed in baking soda and dried, rubber boots set out – and, I am ready to unleash a couple of new killer products, Under Armour Scent Capture Base Layer gear and Mossy Oak’s new Tree Stand pattern which looks awesome by the way. Game on…
