Colorado 2008

To all my western hunting brothers,
I am on a plane right now headed back from elk hunting in Colorado...it was an incredible trip. The trees are getting some color now, the mornings are crisp and the bulls are going insane. It is a magical time. I spot and stalked this guy, waded through a storm of frenzied elk to get within 53 yards before loosing a perfect arrow straight down off a cliff as he was chasing cows and running off satellite bulls below. Given the steep angle I shot for 43 and pinwheeled him. He went about 100 yards after the shot. The image attached of me at full draw is exactly where I shot him from. Watching my arrow disappear into his ribs is an image I will never forget....thanks in part to the incredible footage Perry "Uncle Pear" Knetter captured of the entire sequence. He is an awesome cameraman in crunch time and one of my new favorite hunting partners. We are on a roll!!!! Thanks for the great companionship Perry. I appreciate all your hard work on not just the kill, but in all your camera work...footage of me passing up that "6 x Club Horn"
bull, stalking the bear to 10 yards, being seconds from arrowing that big 7 x 6 coming off the hill and so on. Beautiful work my friend.
Watch for this footage on an upcoming episode of Eastmans' Bowhunting TV.
Next up Dall sheep in the rugged Alaskan backcountry. Roy tells me there is a lot of snow up there...gonna be a brutal hunt. I can't wait!!!! For me, the tougher, the more miserable the better as a great challenge makes success that much sweeter. I am ready to taste the honey!!!
The greater the sacrifice, the greater the reward.

Awesome Shot!! Congrats on a great bull! I’m thinking of a CO Elk hunt for 09. AZ is getting tough to draw! Can’t wait for the Eastmans TV footage. Thanks for the inspiration, I’ve only missed 2 days of shooting in the last month and a half! My shooting is making leaps and bounds! I can now begin to visualize success ;o) Take care Cam!
Geart pic’s and a very nice elk. Keep them coming.
